I think the onus of establishing that Jyotiṣaśāstra works lie with the Jyotiṣa practitioners. It is unfortunate that Jyotiṣaśāstra has been rejected Time and again by the scientific community when the astrological community could not come to par with their expectations. Nothing scares more one than their own uncertain future, and there are many who take advantage of that. It is a divine discipline that has been highjacked in the current age by the self-styled Gurus and Bābās for their nefarious money-making business. It is this ability of Jyotiṣa to see the propensities based on the past life of Karmas that places Jyotiṣa above all other disciplines. One can also identify the propensities of negative karma in this life based on past life impressions and thus take pre-emptive measures to stop them. If one can attain redemption from the negative Karmas of past life, one can improve the experiences in this life. Thus, people are not born with an empty slate instead, it is the previous lives of Karmas that manifest certain experiences in this life. Hindus believe that one is born in certain circumstance and experiences certain things in life, based on the past life of Karmas. Among the Hindus, the belief in Jyotiṣaśāstra is not based on some superstition and mumbo-jumbo, but it stems from the belief in Karma and Reincarnation.
