This collision, in accordance with the giant-impact hypothesis, took place 4.5 billion years ago. It became basis for the theory that Theia and Earth’s collision must have created the moon. THEIA, in Greek mythology, Titaness Theia was the mother of Solene ( Goddess of the Moon). One such is the presence of an hypothesized planet, ‘Theia’ which led to formation of Earth as we know it. To understand any event in the cosmic scale, we have to have some hypothesis out of our mind, and work on it.
